Highland’s Springfest - something for everyone

On June 3, Highland hosted its annual Springfest on the town field. The event was so popular that all roads leading into the town were closed for the occasion. The festival featured numerous vendor stands, with only a fraction of them being held on the town field itself. The rest of the vendors filled the streets, offering a wide range of products and food options.

Food options at Springfest included two food trucks owned by the same company: “The MAC Factor” and “The Chick Magnet.” These trucks specialized in gourmet fries and mac and cheese, respectively. For those with a sweet tooth, “Forget Me Not Cupcakes” offered a variety of cupcakes, including flavors like Oreo, strawberry and maple bacon. The Oreo cupcakes were particularly popular.

Adjacent to the cupcake truck was “Fruit Fashions,” which provided a unique twist on cheesecake by freezing them and putting them on sticks. They also offered chocolate-covered strawberries in various flavors, such as white chocolate, confetti and Black Tie strawberries with a zebra-like design.

Among the vendor stands, one notable presence was “2 by 2 Animal Haven,” a sanctuary for animals that have been donated or rescued. The Haven brings these animals to special needs students and nursing homes, providing them with a sense of purpose. At the festival, they showcased snakes, bearded dragons, alligators, goats, silk chickens, tortoises, lemurs, kangaroos and many other animals.

On the streets of Highland, “pixie floss” set up shop, offering organic cotton candy in unique flavors such as pina colada, marshmallow, cookie dough, mango, blueberry and peach.

For entertainment, the festival featured the band “Dads After Dark,” known for their covers of various songs. Composed of fathers who love to sing Dad Rock, their music style embodied the essence of a dad joke.

Springfest catered to almost every demographic, providing activities like a bubble station for kids, vendors selling trinkets and household decorations, and even a Best Buy tent. With the event growing in popularity each year, it is an opportunity not to be missed by the community.
