Huskies move up to Class B in girls lacrosse

Highland’s girls’ lacrosse team reached the Section 9, Class C semis last season as the four-seed and lost to top-seed Goshen. And the Huskies finished the season 8-7.

Now the Huskies move up to Class B after losing five players, mostly from the defense.

“This is going to be a rough year,” said Kim Caso, Highland’s coach. “I think we can be competitive.”

Eliz Fino, a junior, returns to play midfield and attack after scoring 92 goals last season. Nicole Iapoce and Emma Beck will play in the midfield, and Joann Williams, Bella Valentino, Addie McDowell and Alex Tsangarakas will play attack. Brenna Berean, Savannah Mayen and Teresa Mazzella will play defense. Tasheka McGhie returns as goalie for the Huskies.

“The offense is good,” said Caso. “We have a lot of new players this year, so it’s a matter of getting them up to the same speed as the others.”
