Italian dinner benefits varsity cheerleaders

Highland Varsity Cheer is holding their second annual Italian Dinner on November 3 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the Lloyd Rod and Gun Club, 65 Clearwater Road. Proceeds raised will help benefit the Highland Varsity Cheerleading Team.
Tickets cost $25 per person, or $75 for four. Children under 12 years old and Senior Citizens are Free. The menu includes Penne Ala Vodka, Meatballs, Garlic Bread, Green Salad, Dessert, Coffee.

Passport Night

Lloyd Town Clerk Wendy Rosinski and Ulster County Clerk Nina Postupack are hosting a special passport event at the Lloyd Town Clerk’s Office located at 12 Church Street, Highland, New York on Wednesday, October 23 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
The public will be able to obtain passport information and submit their passport applications for processing. U.S. citizens must present a valid passport book when entering or re-entering the United States by air. U.S. citizens entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry must present a passport book, passport card, or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government. All first-time applicants must appear in person.
Anyone under age 16 must also have both parents present (unless the appearing parent has a completed DS-3053) while ages 16-17 require only one parent present. First time applicants will also need their original birth certificate (or a certified copy) and their driver’s license or non-driver ID. There are two separate payments which must be made and at least one of those payments must be in the form of a check or money order. Pictures can be taken on site for $10.00. The event will be held at the Highland Cultural Arts Center at 437 New Paltz Road from 7 - 8:30 p.m. It’s a PJ party with hot cocoa, cookies and pajamas. Topped with a fun art project creating dream catchers and a yoga class. Yogis and Artists will leave feeling proud, relaxed and ready to relax for the weekend ahead! $40 per student. Suitable for ages 5 and up!

Ulster County Office for the Aging is offering Free, Individual Medicare Counseling at Highland Public Library, 14 Elting Place, on Oct. 21, 10:15 .m. – 1:30 p.m.
During the annual MEDICARE Open Enrollment period (Oct.15 - Dec. 7)
Medicare recipients can: Change from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan, switch or drop a Medicare Advantage Plan, join, switch or drop a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan
If you are happy with how you currently receive your Medicare Coverage there is no need to do anything

A disability should not prevent anyone from using the services of the library. Library For All (Oct. 21, 1-1:45 p.m.) is an adaptive program designed for the needs of adults with developmental, intellectual, physical and cognitive disabilities. Join us for various games, crafts and activities. Please call the library for more information and registration.
No plastic bags, no problem! Ulster County recently banned plastic bags, so come to the library on Oct. 23 (6 - 7 p.m.) and make your own reusable bag for shopping.
A retired seeing-eye dog, Opera is our new therapy dog friend, and reading buddy, who loves to listen to a good book! Come and read with Opera on Oct. 24 (6:30 – 7:30 p.m.) Open to those in grades K-5. Registration required.
Come get into the Halloween spirit at the library! We’ll be watching a horror movie (Oct. 24, 3:30 – 5 p.m.) complete with snacks and candy. Teens only.

Come join Raki on a Dungeons & Dragons adventure (Oct. 25, 6 – 7:45 p.m.. Open to all teen players but if more than 6 players will need another DM. Register or just drop in.
On Tween and Teen Waffle IT (Oct. 25, 3 - 4 p.m., try out several ingredients to make your own unique, delicious waffle! Program is open to tweens and teens. Preference given to those in the Highland Central School District.
