Assemblymember Jonathan Jacobson (D-Newburgh) praised the historic level of education funding included in New York State’s 2021-22 budget. Finalized this week, the budget will significantly expand educational opportunities for New Yorkers from early childhood on up.

“I am proud to have voted for this budget because this money means that our schools will not only be able to help every child who has been negatively impacted by a year of COVID, they will be able to institute new programs that will help all our kids find their path to a good life.”
Local districts’ Foundation Aid has been increased by:
Marlboro Central School District: $1.85M (24.05%)
Highland Central School District: $637K (7.13%)

Wallkill Central School District: $558K (2.69%)
Local districts’ Universal Pre-K Funding has been increased by:
Marlboro Central School District: $270K (100%)
Highland Central School District: $221K (100%)
Wallkill Central School District: $302K (100%)

“The COVID-19 pandemic has made this a lost year for too many. Building upon the funding from President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, this budget makes a major commitment to our children and to New York’s future, so we all can build back better,” concluded Jacobson.
