Jane Elizabeth Taber McQueeney of Birmingham, Alabama, originally from Milton, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Grandview Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

Jane was born on June 4, 1937 in Milton, NY.  She graduated from Marlboro High School and was the Salutatorian of her class.  In her senior year she wrote an essay on "How Women can be Better Leaders in their Communities", which earned her a full scholarship to Elmira College in Elmira NY, where she received a BS in Education.

Upon graduation, she taught 3rd grade in Syracuse, NY, where she met her husband, Raymond McQueeney and was married for 56 years.  While living in Syracuse, they had two boys, Michael and Patrick.

From Syracuse, they moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where she worked as an Accounting Manager for General Electric.  Then they moved to Frederic, Maryland and later to their present home in Birmingham, Alabama.

Jane had many hobbies, which included bird watching, quilting, knitting, cross stitching, and selling and collecting Longaberger Baskets.  But her great love and hobby was collecting Teddy Bears, especially Steiff Bears.

Jane had a full life filled with travel, adventures and fun.  She touched many people's lives and her kindness and generosity will be greatly missed.

At the time of her death, she was survived by her husband, Raymond, who since passed away on January 24, 2019.

She was predeceased by her parents C. Kenneth Taber and Edna May Yossie Taber of Milton, NY, and her sister Nancy Ann Taber Lidman of Hazlet, NJ.

Survivors include:  her sons, Michael (Michele), and Patrick (Jeanette).  Her grandchildren, Kyke, Ryan, Emmett, Erin, Brandon and Devin and great-grandchildren, Macie and Piper.  She is also survived by her sister, Phyllis Taber Finateri (Angelo) of Fort Johnson, NY, along with their child, Jonathan and great niece Tori Finateri, and Bethany Cooney (William), and great nephew, Liam Cooney.  Also, nephews Kenneth Lidman (Sarah) and their daughter Alyssa, and nephew, David Lidman.

On June 1, a memorial service will be held for Jane and her husband Raymond.  There will be a short graveside service at The Friends' Cemetery in Milton, NY, followed by the Memorial Service at the United Methodist Church of Milton-Marlboro, 112 Church St., Milton, NY., at 11  a.m.
