Joan Hencke Thiel of Newburgh, a retired School nurse at Leptondale Elementary School and a longtime resident of the area passed away on Friday March 5, 2021 at home in Newburgh. She was 84.
The daughter of the late Aaron Hencke and Velma Keller Hencke, she was born in Highland, IL.
She was a member of Most Precious Blood Church.
Survivors include her husband, William Thiel at home; sons William A. Thiel and his life partner, Helen Greg and David W. Thiel; daughter, Dawn McGraw and her husband Robert
Grandchildren: Jessica Thiel and her fiance, Jesse Hildebrand, Justin McGraw and his fiance’ Jill Housekeeper, Aaron McGraw and his wife, Alexandra, William E. Thiel and his wife, Adrienne, and James McGraw; great Grandchildren: Peyton Culhane, Justin McGraw, Jr., Link Hildebrand and Adrienne Thiel. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews
She was predeceased by her brother Aaron Hencke, Jr and sister, Arlene Brown
Visitation will be Monday, March 8, 2021, 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St. Walden, NY.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 am on Tuesday March 9, 2021 at Most Precious Blood Church, 25 Walnut St., Walden, NY.
Interment will be in Wallkill Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Most Precious Blood Church.
