Marlboro-Milton Lions Club, announced to the Marlboro School Board that Charlene Kanz was awarded 1st Place in the club’s 2019-20 International Peace Poster Contest. The topic this year was ‘Journey of Peace’.

“When we went to judge the art it was not an easy decision nor was it a quick decision and the reason was the journey that these student artists took us on was magical,” he said.

“We were able to see inside their hearts and inside of their minds about what they feel ‘Journey of Peace’ means to them.”

Mackey thanked Middle School Principal Debra Clinton for supporting this contest and to art teacher Marc Eckert for guiding these student artists.

“It truly is remarkable what Charlene has done and we wanted to recognize her this evening,” he said, adding that her work will go on to the Regional level, “and hopefully go on to Nationals and even go on to Global.”

Mackey also presented Charlene with a $50 check from the club, “to do whatever you want with it.”

Mackey acknowledged and thanked the other students who submitted their work: Isabella DeSantis, Jack Conroy, Samuel Granholm, Amaney Sirdah, Ruby Brown and Isabella DePrato.
