Lloyd awarded $673,000 sidewalk grant

Last week it became official; The Town of Lloyd will receive a $673,000 grant to fix their sidewalks in the hamlet area. NYS Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson and the Town Board gathered at the Highland Library to make the formal announcement. Jacobson said the project will include, “the installation of 25 ADA compliant ramps that will be attached to pads that will provide for safe transitioning from the roadway to the curb sidewalks.

There are also 17 existing signal crosswalks that will be improved with slip-resistant brick pavers to assist people with impaired vision.” The first step will be to have a sidewalk put in from Main Street, along Elting Place and over to the Highland Library to provide a safe path for the school children to walk.

Work on the other sidewalks, crosswalks and bicycle racks would follow.
