The Town of Lloyd Police Department has purchased purple bracelets (the color the Alzheimer’s Association uses to promote Alzheimer’s Disease awareness) to be distributed to members of the community that suffer from late stages of Alzheimer’s disease and have the potential of walking or wandering away from their loved ones.
Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and more than five million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s. Each bracelet distributed will include an inscription with the person’s name, date of birth and an emergency contact number to allow members of emergency services to easier reunite them back with their families.

The bracelets and inscriptions will be provided free of charge to qualifying Town of Lloyd residents. The cost of the engravings on the bracelets has been donated by Bill Ludeke of B & L Jewelers, New Paltz.

Swimming Shark Jello-Dessert
The Highland Public Library has shared a kids dessert How-To on their webpage. You can make a Swimming Shark Jell-O Dessert! This dessert is fun and easy to make with kids. Ocean blue jello with a floating gummy shark topped with mounds of Cool Whip is great for celebrating shark week and getting kids active in the kitchen. No cooking required. Parental supervision required.
Ingredients:
1 package of Jell-O Berry Blue
1 8oz tub of Cool Whip
8-10 gummy sharks (Dollar General, Target.)
Wilton Color Mist-Red for icing

Steps:
Gather all your ingredients and 4 dessert glasses. Preferably clear or blue so you can see the swimming shark in the Jell-O.
Make Jell-O according to the package directions.
Distribute Jell-O evenly to 4 dessert glasses.

Chill for 2-3 hours or until the jello is slightly thick, but not firm.
Remove from the refrigerator and cut tiny slits in the top skin of the Jell-O. Slide a gummy shark into the Jell-O cup.
Place back in the refrigerator for another 2 hours or until thick.
Top with Cool Whip, spray with Wilton Color Mist. Add shark.
Use your creativity and add whatever you want to your Swimming Shark Jell-O Dessert! Maybe some pop-rocks for ocean stones, graham cracker crumbs for sand or add more gummy sea creatures.
