Last week the Lloyd Town Board voted to approve their 2020 town budget. The total appropriations and provisions for next year comes to $11,535,419 and the town will realize revenues of $3,014,872. The Town Board also approved using $470,400 from the un-expended fund leaving the total to be raised by the tax levy at $8,050,147.

On a home assessed at $250,000 that is outside of the water and sewer district the town tax will be approximately $1,372 for 2020, a $30 increase from this year. Just inside of the water and sewer district the tax will be $1,872, a decrease of $73 from this year and if a resident is only inside the water district the town tax will be about $1,557, an increase of $15. These totals are not in addition to what residents paid last year but will be the total town tax for 2020.

Supervisor Paul Hansut thanked Elaine Rivera for helping with the 2020 budget. He said the town will meet the two percent tax cap, with the actual increase for 2020 of $193,108.

“That’s what we can raise to stay within the cap; that’s the number that was sent down by the state,” he said. “But doing some calculations for that, the state cut some aid that we’d been getting in the past of $40,000, so that brought us down to a cap of $153,108.”

Councilman Joe Mazzetti commended Hansut for his leadership on the budget during his 8 year tenure, “and every time coming in under the cap; great job, Paul.”
