Marlboro sports fans will now be able to watch many of the High School’s athletic games from the comfort of their own homes, thanks to new technology invested in by the Marlboro Central School District, and an online live video-streaming service.

The National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Network will provide fans with unlimited access to sporting events using two automated Pixellot cameras, which have been installed at Marlboro High School. The free cameras were part of an offer made to schools that are part of Section IX Athletics.

One of the new cameras was installed in the Marlboro High School gymnasium and the other will be placed outside near the football field. The systems are set up so that they can capture a panoramic view of each game. The devices also feature tracking software which enable them to follow the action automatically, eliminating the need for camera operators.

According to Assistant Superintendent for Technology & Personnel Mike Bakatsias, the only thing the District needs to do is input a schedule and the Pixellot will automatically begin recording and broadcasting the game.

“This streaming service is the perfect solution to help friends and family members who can’t make it to the games be able to support their Duke athletes,” said Bakatsias, adding that it can also be a great scouting resource for colleges since streamed videos will be archived on the network and can be re-watched at a later date.

In order to watch a game online, fans will need to subscribe to the NFHS Network. Subscribers will have unlimited access to Marlboro’s live and on-demand sports broadcasts, as well as to other high school sporting events from around the country.
