Last week the Marlboro School Board and the Administration honored their Students of the Month for November.

Middle School
Science teacher Harrison Colandrea named 7th grader Danielle Ticcony as the Marlboro Middle School Student of the Month for November.

Colandrea said, “Danielle is unequivocally the best of the best student in 7th grade. She’s hard-working, she’s bright, intelligent, she’s dedicated and she’s also very funny and easily makes me laugh once a day.”

Colandrea said in class Ticcony is very focused.

“She sits in the front in class and as I walk around I see her intently focused on what is on the board or intently focused on what I am saying,” Colandrea said. “Her dedication in science as well as in all her classes has been proven in her grades and will carry her where she wants to go in life. That kind of dedication and work ethic, you can’t really teach that kind of thing.”

Colandrea said Ticcony is a kind student, “and only makes the kids around her better; that is all I can ask for in a student.”
Colandrea said, “I am very fortunate to teach such a great student as Danielle, you’re hard work is appreciated every single day and in the end, I can only hope that Danielle enjoys my class as much as I enjoy having her in my class. So congratulations, you deserve this more than anyone.”

High School
Zachary King was named the November Marlboro High School Student of the Month. Principal Ryan Lawler said, “Zachary always has a huge smile on his face and says hi to me every morning and every afternoon he says goodbye. You’re a very loyal kid and we’re very happy to have you.”

Physical Education teacher Ryan Brooks said it is Zachary’s character that really stands out, “which is demonstrated every day with the amount of respect that he shows others... He’s generally a caring individual and a selfless person and always has everyone’s best interest in mind. He’s always willing to help with whatever I need in class with no hesitation and he encourages his peers and classmates to try their best.”

Brooks said Zachary views every task as a learning experience.

“He enjoys participating in every activity in class no matter what it is, especially football and weight-lifting,” Brooks said. “It is an honor and privilege to present Zachary as the Student of the Month on behalf of the Marlboro Physical Education Department.”

Elementary School
Marco Lanzoni was named the Marlboro Elementary Student of the Month for November. Teacher Karleigh Kowalski said Marco stands out for many reasons.

“He’s willing to help anyone in the classroom who needs it. He works hard every day in many areas, including academics. He shows respect for himself and others and is adding something special to our classroom every single day as well as the school community,” she said.

Kowalski said it is Marco’s “honesty and his ability to stick up for others in the classroom at anytime and in any situation,” that stands out above all of his positive traits.
“He is an upstander in the true definition of the word, as well as a leader and most importantly an amazing friend to all those around him. I am positive that Marco will continue to be an outstanding citizen and prove how lucky we are to have him in the Marlboro community.”

Superintendent Michael Brooks reflected upon these three young students.

“It’s so wonderful to hear the accolades, but when you start to read them back and take notes, I want families to pay attention to what is said about the children you send us each and every day. They’re hard-working, they have character, they’re helpful, they’re respectful of self and of others, they have a work ethic, they’re thoughtful and kind, they have a focused mentality, they’re leaders, they’re friends: these are fantastic characteristics of solid, good people. Danielle, Zachary and Marco thanks for being such great people, keep doing it and aspire to great things. Congratulations everybody.”
