Marlboro Free Library celebrates spring!

The Friends of the Marlboro Free Library are holding a raffle for a white cooler filled with goodies that might appeal to men, or anyone with a DIY mentality or love of cars!

Contents of the ‘Bro Basket’ include items such as: Foam & Wash gift certificates, assorted tools, playing cards, car air freshener, chamois towel, grill apron and scraper, “to go” coffee cups, shaver and shaving cream and much more! Makes a great Father’s day gift! Raffle tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5 and may be purchased at the Marlboro Library, where the basket is on display at the circulation desk.

You must be over 21 to purchase raffle tickets, and proceeds will go towards the Reading Garden. The drawing will be held on Saturday, May 18.

Spring children’s program registration begins
Children’s Spring program registration, for a 5-week story time series and after school programs, opens Monday, April 15 at 10 a.m. Visit the Library’s online calendar at marlborolibrary.org to view the full program lineup and sign up. For after school programs, please note: If you will be dropping your child off and leaving the library, you must be registered for the program and sign in before leaving the building. For safety purposes and emergency closings, it is important that we have parent/caregiver contact information on file.

Baby Lapsit (birth-18 months) Mondays 10-10:30 a.m. (4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20) OR Wednesdays 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29)

Boost your baby’s pre-literacy skills while we share approximately 20 minutes of books, rhymes, songs, and lap bounces. Then, bond with other new parents & caregivers while babies engage in play time for the last 10 minutes. Registration required.

Toddler Story Time (18-36 months) Mondays 11:30- a.m. - 12:15 p.m. (4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20) OR Thursdays 10-10:45 a.m. (5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/23, 5/30)

This story time is designed for wiggly little ones and includes books, songs, instruments, and movement activities. We’ll spend the last 10-15 minutes engaged in group play time to encourage social/emotional developmental skills. Parent/caregiver participation is required, so come ready to learn and bond with your child through reading, singing, and playing! Registration required.

Preschool Story Time (3-5 years) Wednesdays, 10-10:45 a.m. (5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29) OR Thursdays 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. (5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/23, 5/30)

In this program, children will work on developing the early literacy skills needed for Kindergarten readiness. We’ll share books, songs, rhymes, and movement activities for approximately 30 minutes, and complete a craft for the last 15 minutes. Parent/caregiver participation is required and will help to boost children’s learning. Registration required.

Messy Monday (grades k-5) Mondays, 3:45-4:30 p.m. (4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20)
Join us for weekly messy crafts and art projects. Registration required.

Tinker Time (grades 3-5) Thursdays, 3:45-4:30 p.m. (5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/23, 5/30)

Join us for weekly STEAM based challenges, activities, and rotating tech toys. Registration required.

Pajama Story Time and Teddy Bear Sleepover
April 11, 6:30-7 p.m.

Join us in your jammies for bedtime stories and songs! Bring a stuffed animal to sleep over in the library and pick it up on Friday to see what it did with other stuffed friends overnight! Fundraiser tea

The Friends of the Marlboro Library will be holding their third annual tea party fundraiser at the Marlboro Yacht Club, on Saturday, May 18 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Enjoy the charms of a bygone era and join us for tea, light refreshments, music and conversation.

Guests will have a final chance to purchase raffle tickets for the Friend’s “Bro Basket” before the winner is announced, as well as many other exciting surprise raffles. Proceeds will go to future library programs. Tickets for the tea are $25 each and are available for purchase at the circulation desk.

Home vegetable gardening for beginners
Have you always wanted to grow your own vegetables? With spring finally here, now is the perfect time to learn how! Join us on Thursday, April 18 at 7pm at the Marlboro Free Library as the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange County presents the tried and true methods for selecting the best varieties, planting, maintaining, harvesting and sustaining a productive vegetable garden.

American Legion Auxiliary Fundraiser
Come out for a night of fun, as a local artist will teach you step by step how to create a beautiful lantern.

The event will take place on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 50 Western Avenue, Marlboro. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $45 each and includes a lantern, painting supplies, complimentary snacks, coffee, tea, soda and desert. You may BYOB

Viebey-Sutton Post 124 American Legion
Stephen MacDougal, of the American Legion Hall, Post 124, is looking for service members who served during the Gulf War from 2 August 1990 to 30 November 1995 and Gulf War on terrorism from 11 September 2001 to Date to be Determined who left from Marlboro or Milton, NY, to have name added to war monument by the Marlboro Middle School.
