Last week the Marlboro Administration and the Board of Education honored three students for their Academic Excellence and for their accomplishments that make them exceptional.

Amber Torres was named the Marlboro Elementary School Student of the Month.

Physical Education teacher Jen Young described Amber as, “kind, caring, sweet, always willing to help and is the kind of student that you always want in your class because of the kindness of her heart.”

Denise Polumbo, also a Physical Education teacher, said, “Amber always comes to class with a smile on her face, ready to meet all expectations and to take on any challenges. She is always helping others, complimenting her classmates and showing empathy towards others. In addition to her sense of empathy and generosity, Amber is an incredibly hard worker and comes to class prepared to participate and play hard.”

Amber’s Kindergarten teacher, Krista Lanzoni, wrote, “Amber was always kind, compassionate and a good friend to others.”

Gina Verdi taught Amber in first grade, “She is kind and respectful, always tries her best and was an amazing example to others.”

Monica Taddeo had Amber in 3rd grade and wrote, ‘Amber was a truly genuine soul during our year together. She not only took on the role of being a helper to others but always pushed herself to do her best. She worked to her full potential despite any obstacles and sought to have her work be immaculate and precise while allowing herself to be creative and inventive.”

Fourth grade teacher Antoinette Barley remembers that, ‘Amber would come to school with a sweet, soft smile and leave with a hug. Out whole MES family if proud of Amber for this exceptional achievement. Congratulations on your well-deserved honor.’

Middle School Assistant Principal Demian Stanmyer introduced eighth grader Vincent Losi as the Marlboro Middle School Student of the Month.

“Vinnie has shown tremendous growth since sixth grade and from day one he was always so heartfelt, honest and genuine and awesome to talk to and his teachers loved having him in the room,” Stanmyer said.

Special Education teacher Kelli Messina said Vinnie is a role model, “both inside and outside of the classroom. During class Vinnie can be found going out of his way to help and teach other students who are struggling. Resilient, kind and resourceful are all words used by others to describe him. Vinnie works hard both on and off the football field and is an admirable student and friend to others. He deserves recognition for his kindness, good attitude and determination; congratulations.”

Social Studies teacher Brian Barbulean introduced senior Alex McAteer as the Marlboro High School Student of the Month.

“We have standing here a true example of what it means to be an outstanding student,” Barbulean said. “Alex has shown an unwavering commitment to his education, consistently achieving top grades in his classes.”

Barbulean described Alex as a ‘diligent learner,’ a ‘source of inspiration’ and is an ‘unforgettable person’.

“He has consistently demonstrated kindness, respect and a willingness to lend a helping hand to both classmates and teachers. He has juggled his academics with extracurricular activities and personal commitments, setting an example on how to balance responsibilities effectively,” Barbulean said.

Barbulean said not only is Alex an excellent student but, “he is a well-rounded individual who embodies the values that we hold dear in Marlboro. His achievements both inside and outside the classroom are a testament to his dedication and his character. I look forward to all that he is going to accomplish during his senior year.”
