Did you know therapy dogs are non-judgmental listeners that can help an emerging reader relax and read confidently? School age children (grades k-5) are welcome to drop in to The Library to read to therapy dogs, Sebastian and Fletcher, from Hudson Valley Paws for a Cause! Registration is not required, but RSVP online is preferred.
Due to the limited availability of this program, we cannot guarantee a set time slot for your child to read to a dog. Please come prepared to patiently wait a few minutes for your turn.

School supply drive
The Marlboro Library is pleased to serve as a drop-off location for families in need of school supplies.

From now until September 7, bring your items to either the Marlboro Library, the Sarah Hull Hallock Library or Mary Jane’s Dairy bar. Please label MES, MMS, or MHS if supplies are for a particular school. Suggested items to donate include: Packages of Ticonderoga #2 pencils, pencil-top erasers, 12-packs of colored pencils, 24-packs of Crayola crayons, packages of multiple glue sticks, light colored highlighters, packages of washable markers, expo brand (only) fine point black dry- erase markers, marble & spiral notebooks , sturdy folders with two pockets, lined paper, pencil pouches, binders, backpacks / lunch boxes and anything else on the District supply lists.

Poetry reader’s club continues
Wish you had some more poetry in your life? Join Poetry Club! This group consists mainly of non-poetry experts who share an appreciation of literature, and would like to explore new poems. Attendees will have a whole month to read a selected poem before meeting to share their thoughts and/or ask questions.
Poetry club will meet the second Wednesday of the month in August, September and October.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, August 14 at 7:30 pm. We will discuss Sonnet 116: Let me not to the marriage of true minds, by William Shakespeare and Love is Not All (Sonnet XXX) by Edna St. Vincent Millay. Copies of these poems may be picked up at the Library’s circulation desk. Bring your suggestions for future selections!

Thursday, August 15, 7 – 9 p.m. Scott Jameson, magician and juggler, will be at the Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library, presenting a “Universe of Stories and Magic”.

On August 8 at 7 p.m., the Family-Fun Workshop at the Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library invites one and all to design space gear and craft an alien costume. The library has a wide collection of thingamabobs to mine and in order to fuel your interstellar fashion design.
