Marlboro student artists earn regional recognition

Marlboro High School (MHS) is pleased to announce that several students have won Gold and Silver Keys in the 2021 Hudson Valley Region Scholastic Art Awards competition.
The students from MHS endeavored to create their best works in order to compete with thousands of entries from throughout the region. The Gold and Silver Key winners will be honored during a virtual ceremony on February 5. Gold Key winners will go on to be judged at the national level and, if chosen, will be honored at a ceremony in Carnegie Hall in June.
MHS art teachers Amy Tremblay and Rachel Elder expressed pride in their students and excitement for the opportunity for one student winner to be judged at the national level.
“These talented students have worked hard and are very deserving of this honor,” Tremblay said. “We are very proud of all of our students who participated in this prestigious contest.”
The Scholastic Awards is the nation’s longest running recognition program for creative teenagers and the largest source of scholarships for talented young artists and writers. Artistic submissions are judged by luminaries in the visual arts and panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.

Among the top winners from MHS is Grade 9 student Thomas Rusk, who earned a Gold Key for his digital artwork titled “Hide or Seek.” Grade 11 students Ava DelSalto and Lindsay Savas won Silver Keys for their colored pencil drawings, as did Grade 10 student Megan Spiconardi for her graphite illustration.
Honorable mentions were awarded to the following Marlboro students: Mireya Anthony, Maya Bozydaj, Matthew Castellani, Dylan Chanowsky, Tristan Chapman, Grace Garrison, Kate Hull, Katelyn Keahon, Jordan Krieger, Ryan Mattison, Michael Murphy, Madison Pitkin, Emma Randazzo, and Lindsay Savas.
