Sophia Pesano is this year’s recipient of the Father Hanley Council # 7266 Knights of Columbus $1,000 scholarship. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous member of the parish, an additional $100 has been added to this year’s scholarship.

Presenting the K of C scholarship at the 5 p.m. Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marlboro on Saturday, June 15th, Raymond Leduc, Sr., chairperson of the scholarship committee, commented that this year’s recipient is a 2019 graduate of Marlboro High School and is very involved in the church, at the school, and in the community. Sophia truly encompasses what God wants us to be, has volunteered at Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast and dinner fundraisers, as a teacher’s aide in the CCD program, and is a lector in St. Mary’s Parish.

Sophia is also very actively involved and has undertaken several leadership roles at the high school and in the community. She is an excellent role model and an exemplary citizen. The daughter of Geoffrey and Maureen Pesano, Sophia will be attending Stony Brook University in the fall.
