Mary Margaret Tardi, age 75, of Highland, New York, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.

Born May 26, 1944 in Yonkers, New York, she was the daughter of the late William and Antonine (Florkowski) Credo.

On October 8, 1966, at St. Bartholomews Church in Yonkers, New York, Mary married the love of her life, Ralph Joseph Tardi. They had over 53 happily married years together before her passing.

Mary’s greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and friends that became family. She loved hosting big gatherings which she would call “The Tardi Parties”. She was also a dedicated parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church for 30 years.

In Mary’s younger years, she worked as a hairstylist and beautician in Yonkers, until she met Ralph. She became a stay at home Mom but she was more than that. She had a special flair for fashion and was always meticulously put together. She also excelled at interior designing and would often assist friends and family members to improve their living spaces. She was the kindest, most caring, and generous woman to everyone she met. When Mary smiled, she lit up a room. Mary was everyone’s sunshine and she will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph; her daughters, Anne Marie Tardi-Osterhoudt and her husband, Reggie of Clintondale, NY and Denise Tardi-Cooper and her husband, Joe of Highland, NY; her brother, William Credo of Fishkill, NY; her grandchildren, Devan Marie and Kylee Cooper of Highland, NY; Zachary, Benjamin, and Angelia Osterhoudt of Clintondale, NY; her special cousin, Paula Petryssyn of New Windsor, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Credo.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, February 24, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Church, 34, New Paltz, with Father Sal Cordaro, officiating. The Rite of Committal followed in Lloyd Cemetery.

The family suggests that donations in Mary’s name be made to St. Joseph’s Church, 34 South Chestnut Street, New Paltz, NY 12561.
