OnWednesday evening, August 26, was the scene of a Meet Me in Marlborough socially distanced informational gathering at Benmarl Winery. Represented were the MMiM Board of Directors, Town of Marlborough Supervisor and Councilman and the Assistant Director of Ulster Tourism. All parties have been working together on ways to support local. The meeting served as an opportunity to catch up on recent accomplishments, as well as to discuss efforts for the near and long-term future to support our local businesses and community.
Highlighted was a talk by videographer Mark Doerrier who is in the process of creating a series of promotional videos spotlighting Meet Me in Marlborough members. Doerrier has more than 30 years experience working professionally in video. He has come to love this area and its agricultural heritage, and loves telling the personal “marketing stories” of our local entrepreneurs.
Town Supervisor Al Lanzetta informed the group of grants received by the Town to improve the sewer system, sidewalks for Milton, improved parking facilities and a newly installed traffic crossing at the Falcon. Councilman Howard Baker commented on plans for a new cultural resource center.
Representing Ulster County Tourism was Assistant Director Fran DePetrillo-Savoca, who enthusiastically offered the agency’s resources to support MMiM’s agenda. Ulster Tourism has shown strong, consistent support for Meet Me in Marlborough, most recently demonstrated by featuring the Marlborough area on their website’s home page slide presentation. The subject of attracting river cruises was brought up with the assurance from Ulster Tourism of initiating communication with regional cruise lines. Meet Me in Marlborough will be kept up-to-date on the progress of this proposal.
And finally, as part of MMiM, Town of Marlborough and Ulster County Tourism, “Lets Face it Together & Support Local” campaign, lawn signs have been created and are being placed at various MMiM members locations, and a “Support Local” collaboration video will soon be showcased on MMiM’s website and Facebook page.
