Mildred E. Heotzler, age 96, of Plattekill, died Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Hudson Valley Rehab and Extended Care Center of Highland. Mildred was born September 11, 1923 in Plattekill, the daughter of the late John G. and Esther (Mathisen) Hoppenstedt. She married Harry Heotzler on January 23, 1944 at the Leptondale Chapel. Harry predeceased her on November 20, 1999.

Mildred was employed as a seamstress prior to her marriage. She was a former member of the Cornwall Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, puzzles, crocheting, reading and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and canning.

She is survived by four daughters: Ruth Waryga and her husband, Don of Warminster, PA, Janet McCord and her husband, Chuck of Yamhill, OR, Susan Gardner and her husband, Ken of Wallkill, NY and Brenda Bass and her husband, John of Diamond Springs, CA; her son, Gary Heotzler and his wife, Heidi of New Castle, PA; her sister: Adele Bettcher of Virginia Beach, VA and her brother, Ronald Hoppenstedt and his wife, Edurne of St. Augustine, FL; her sister-in-law, Valerie Hoppenstedt; she is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; Kristin and Matt Godshall, Jason and Veronica Waryga, Bryan Waryga, Greg and Sheila McCord, Glen and Elizabeth McCord, Jennifer and John Major, Joel and Rocelle Gardner, David Bass, Jamie Bass, Sarah and Daniel McConahy, Jacob and Joyce Heotzler, Mark and Sophia Heotzler and Thomas and Micah Heotzler; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her three brothers, James Hoppenstedt, Raymond Hoppenstedt and Jack Hoppenstedt; and her grandson, Jonathan Bass.

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 16,. at Copeland-Hammerl Funeral Home, New Paltz,. Burial took place at Modena Rural Cemetery after the service.
