New senior citizens group is formed

The new group, Highland Senior Citizens, would like to continue to build their attendance. There is no membership or formal meeting – join in with a group of fellow seniors that get together twice a month for socialization, luncheons and other events.
Highland Senior Citizens meets at the Highland Public Library on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m.

February 8 is Winterfest 2020!
Saturday, February 8 is Winterfest 2020 hosted by the Hudson Valley Rail Trail Association from 11 a.m – 2 p.m. Admission is $2 per person (children 6 and under are free).
There will be food available for purchase, chili contest samples to taste, free tractor rides, marshmallows and chestnuts – hay rides and karaoke. The Hudson Valley Rail Trail Association asks if you are interested in volunteering, donating goods or services, or having your favorite restaurant participate in the Chili Contest, please get in touch with the Hudson Valley Rail Trail Association. Highland Babe Ruth League
Early registration ends on January 15 for baseball and softball programs, at which time registration rates will go up $20 per player to normal rates, through February 1. February 1 through February 15 is the late registration period, with an additional $10 per player late fee added. Registration officially closes on Feb. 15.
Please sign up to take advantage of the early discount! Also, the league will be offering winter clinics at the High School starting later in January for all those who have registered.

Come join the fun Saturday, May 16 to support local vendors, artists and our children in the community. There will be activities, shopping, entertainment, delicious food and drinks. The Highland Public Library will be closed on January 20 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr Day.

Dungeons and Dragons, Jan. 23, 6 – 7:45 p.m. Come join Raki on a D&D adventure. Open to all teen players but if more than 6 players will need another DM. Register or just drop in.
Teen Sugar Scrub, Jan. 24, 3 - 4 p.m. Make your own scented sugar scrub to take home! Preference given to teens residing in the Highland Central School District**
Family Lego Night Extravaganza! Jan. 23, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Join us for an hour of Lego mania, fun for all ages! Registration suggested. Children must be accompanied by an adult!
Not Your Great-Grandmother’s Embroidery, Feb. 5, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. You will learn how to transfer a pattern to fabric and mount to an embroidery hoop. You will have number of cool patterns to choose from that require a few simple stitches.
You must have a library card to check out the embroidery hoop to finish your work.
