Pedestrian struck by car on Route 9W

On January 14, at approximately 07:30 a.m., the Town of Marlborough Police Department responded to the area of 1209 Route 9W for a reported car versus pedestrian accident.

During a preliminary investigation, it was determined that Michael Heller, 77, of Marlborough, was jogging along Route 9W in the area of Bloom Street. Heller was attempting to cross Route 9W from the West when he was struck by a southbound Hyundai, operated by Maureen Moreno, 38, of Milton. Heller was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with serious injuries. The incident is still under investigation by the Town of Marlborough Police Department.

Assisting on scene were New York State Police, Ulster County Emergency Services, Mobile Life Support Services and the Marlborough Fire District.
