Golden Seniors kick off 2020 with special events

The Plattekill Golden Seniors have kicked off the new year.

The club is planning four trips during the coming year, in May. They will travel to Westchester Broadway Theater for “Cinderella”, in June they will be have lunch and see a Billy Joel Tribute at Villa Roma.

Then they will travel to Silver Birches in Pa in August for a boat ride, lunch and entertainment and we will finish up the year back at Westchester Broadway Theater in October for a production of “Kinky Boots.”

The Plattekill Golden Seniors meet at The Plattekill Library. 2047 Rt 32, Modena, twice a month. The first Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. for a business meeting followed by birthday cake and bingo and on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 12 p.m. for lunch, fellowship and bingo.

Legends and lore of Marlboro Mountains

Stretching for 25 miles from Esopus to Plattekill, the Marlboro Mountains have a fascinating history that includes tales of lost treasure, grisly crimes and all manner of mysterious creatures.

On Saturday, February 15, Plattekill Historian Libbie Werlau will share photographs, maps and newspaper accounts that tell of the unusual stories found in the picturesque hills of southern Ulster County.

The February meeting of the Plattekill Historical Society will take place on Saturday, February 15 at 1 p.m. at the Historic Grange Hall, 127 Church Street in Plattekill. Admission is free.
