Plattekill Fire Department welcomes two new Emergency Apparatus with Push-In Ceremony

The Plattekill Fire Department, in collaboration with the Plattekill Fire District, invites the community to join them in welcoming their two newest pieces of emergency apparatus during a historic push-in ceremony scheduled for October 29. This time-honored tradition will take place at Station 1, located at 50 Old Fire House Road, Plattekill, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and everyone is welcome to attend this special event.

The centerpiece of the celebration will be the official dedication and introduction of "Engine I" 47-10, a state-of-the-art 2023 E-ONE Cyclone 4x2 Pumper. This powerful fire engine boasts an Extruded Aluminum Body, a 6-Man Cab, a Low Hose Bed, a 1750 GPM Hale Pump, 1000 Gallons of Water, and a 30 Gallon Class A Foam System. It is set to replace the 2000 Pierce Saber Engine, which faithfully served the Plattekill Fire District and neighboring communities for 23 years. The retiring engine will continue to serve as a reserve engine for Benhaven Emergency Services in Olivia, North Carolina.

In addition to the new fire engine, the Plattekill Fire Department will also introduce their "Ambulance 647," a 2023 Osage Warrior Type I Ambulance mounted on a Ford F450 4WD Chassis. This ambulance is equipped with an electric cot power load system and liquid spring suspension. Ambulance 647 is replacing the 2013 Type 2 Van Ambulance that served the residents of the Plattekill Fire District and neighboring communities for a decade. This retired ambulance will find a new home as a transporting ambulance for the City of Kingston Fire Department in Ulster County.

The push-in ceremony is a tradition that harks back to the days before motorized fire apparatus, symbolizing the transition from hand-drawn or horse-drawn fire equipment to modern, motorized engines. It represents the formal introduction of these new emergency vehicles into the Plattekill Fire Department's service.

Members of the community, along with public officials and the department's membership, are encouraged to participate in pushing the new apparatus into the station to officially put them into service. This is an opportunity for the community to get up close and personal with the life-saving equipment that will serve the Plattekill Fire District and the Town of Plattekill, as well as the Town of Newburgh.

The Plattekill Fire Department is excited to share this momentous occasion with the community and show their commitment to providing the best possible emergency services to residents and visitors. Light refreshments will be served during the event.
