A Plattekill man was arrested on Thursday, July 16 on felony charges of criminal possession and sale of a controlled substance.

The Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team arrested William Lowers, 41, after an investigation into heroin sales in the area of his residence in the Forest Park Trailer Park.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail.

At the time of his arrest on July 16, he was awaiting sentencing related to a previous arrest by URGENT that resulted in a conviction for drug possession and sales.

In that case, he was released from the county jail in January when recent bail reform legislation took effect.

URGENT was assisted with the arrest by Town of Plattekill Police uniformed patrols. The following agencies have members assigned to URGENT: Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Town of Shandaken Police, Ulster County Probation, Town of Plattekill Police, Village of Ellenville Police and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
