In anticipation for the new year, the Plattekill Town Board is getting ready to kick off 2020. At the December 4 Town Board meeting, Supervisor Joseph Croce made the suggestion to move the first Town Board meeting of 2020, which falls on New Years Day, to January 2, 2020. All Board members agreed to the date change.

The January 2 Plattekill Town Board meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a swearing in ceremony, followed by the annual reorganization meeting.

Anderson Center for Autism seeks support of new community residence
The Anderson Center for Autism, an organization that is dedicated to optimizing the quality of life for individuals with autism, informed the Plattekill Town Board of their intentions to set up a community residence for five individuals at 97 Glen Rock Circle. This residence would join numerous others in the Town of Plattekill. This community residence would provide 24 hour supervision and assistance, giving the inhabitants an opportunity to live, interact, work, and become part of the Plattekill community. Regulations state that the Plattekill Town Board has forty days to respond to the Anderson Center letter of intent by either supporting the proposed community residence, suggesting another site in the town that would be better suited for a community residence, or objecting to the project.

After a brief discussion, the Town Board decided to contact the CEO of the Anderson Center for Autism, inviting a representative from the center to attend the next Plattekill Town Board meeting, scheduled for December 18. The Town Board would have the chance to ask questions about the project, and then make an informed decision.

Memo seeks changes to cleaning services
A memo from eight Plattekill Town Hall employees have sent a memo to the Plattekill Town Board, asking for a change in the cleaning service at the Plattekill Town Hall. According to the employees, they have found the current cleaning service to be unsatisfactory. In their memo, these town hall employees asked the Town Board to investigate alternative cleaning services for the Town Hall building.

As the choice of cleaning services in under the discretion of the Highway Superintendent, the Board agreed to send a copy of the memo to Highway Superintendent Robert Wager, and ask him to investigate alternative cleaning companies in regards to pricing and scheduling. The Town Board will discuss the matter further once the investigation is complete.

Publicist Needed
The Town of Plattekill is seeking a Town Publicist. The position would include managing the town website, taking pictures for the website at town events, and placing the lettering on the Town Hall sign. Anyone interested can stop by the Plattekill Town Hall to fill out an application, or call the Town Hall directly at 845-883-7331.

The next meeting of the Town of Plattekill Town Board will be on December 18 at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall.
