Plattekill town hall renovations moving forward

Posted

The Plattekill Town Board, at their January 15 meeting, was informed that the proposed renovations to the Town Hall would be moving forward.

As was discussed at a previous Town Board meeting, renovations to the interior of the Town Hall Courthouse will create a seperate entrance to the Building Department and the offices of the Planning Board.

Currently, all visitors, regardless of their destination, must enter through the courtroom. To make room for these renovations, the Town Board has loaned many historical items to the Town of Plattekill Historical Preservation Society.

The final, and heaviest item, is a safe which displays the Town of Plattekill emblem, that is currently located in the Town Hall building. The safe is scheduled to be moved to the Town of Plattekill Historical Preservation Society Building on Church Street in the upcoming weeks.

It’s never too early to think about summer

While summer may seem far away, it is never too early to start planning. Board members unanimously carried a motion to allow ERock Soccer owner Eric Watson use of the town soccer fields for a summer soccer camp. As in past years, ERock will again pay the town for use of its fields.

Information on the ERock soccer camp will be available in the spring, either on the ERock website (erocksoccer.wixsite.com/camp), or by calling the Plattekill Town Hall.

The Town of Plattekill Recreation Department contacted the Town Board to approve the financial details for the 2019 Plattekill Summer Camp. The summer camp will be five weeks, operating from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday to Friday. The cost, which includes all field trips, will be $500 per child. The cost can be paid in two payments. The deadline for final payments will be June 5, 2019. All payments received after June 5 will incur a $25 late charge. The Board carried a motion to approve the summer camp pricing, allowing the Summer Camp planning to move forward. More information regarding the 2019 Plattekill Summer camp will be released in the upcoming months.
