The Plattekill Town Board will be hosting a presentation by the newly formed Plattekill Park Expansion Committee at its May 15 meeting. This short presentation will explore ways the facilities at Thomas Felton Park can be improved and expanded. Recognized by the Plattekill Town Board last summer, the Park Expansion committee’s mission is to provide sustainable and safe park facilities to the citizens of Plattekill. New park facilities, such as the a community center, additional sports fields, a splash pad, and a community garden, will be more ways for the community to come together.

The Park Expansion Committee is reaching out to the citizens of Plattekill. Public input is extremely important to the member of the committee as they considers what types of park facilities will best serve the citizens of Plattekill in the future. Residents of Plattekill can learn more about the Park Expansion Project, and give their input, at the May 15 Town Board meeting. A Park Expansion Project booth will be set up at town events, and a short survey will be available at Thomas Felton Park, Town Hall and online.

Be cautious of rabid animals
With increase sightings of rabid animals in southern Ulster County, the Plattekill Dog Control is reminding the citizens of Plattekill to be cautious of any wild animal that is behaving abnormally. Rabid animals can appear tame, and may approach domesticated pets and children, increasing the risk of animal bites and ultimately infection. Rabies is a preventable virus in domesticated pets. Citizens are advised to vaccinate their pets against rabies, and to keep all vaccinations up to date.
