The Friends of the Sojourner Truth Library at SUNY New Paltz will sponsor the 14th annual Dennis O’Keefe Lecture on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. via Webex.
Nancy Kassop, professor of political science and a nationally recognized expert in constitutional law and the U.S. presidency, will deliver a lecture titled “Looking Forward, Looking Backward: A Nation’s Expectations after Government Fails.”
This online event is free and open to the public via this link. A live question and answer opportunity will follow Kassop’s talk.
A member of the SUNY New Paltz faculty since 1984, Nancy Kassop is a widely published scholar of American politics. She offers this description of her talk:
“Times of national upheaval are often followed by efforts at wide-scale institutional and political reform. The nation is at one of those moments that call for a fundamental assessment of how our governmental and political systems operate. Proposals are already starting to percolate. History suggests that we approach such efforts with both hope and caution. What can we expect, as we look ahead?”
The link to Kassop’s lecture will be live on Sept. 24 a few moments before 7 p.m. To attend, log in atnewpaltz.webex.com. If prompted, enter meeting code 171 3662928 and meeting password 4FGf3XBXwJ7.
