The Hudson Valley 12U Renegades brought home the New York Elite Baseball League championship on Sunday, Oct. 25, when they edged the Rockland Stars, 2-1, at Kristi Babcock Memorial Park Field in New Windsor.
Joey Santo got the win on the mound for the Renegades, a travel baseball team that consists of players from Orange, Ulster and Dutchess counties.
The win earned the Renegades championship rings, instead of the usual individual trophy.
The Renegades finished second place with an overall 7-1 record, suffering their only loss in the final game of the regular season with a doubleheader split with the Stars on Oct. 18. They beat the Stars 18-10 in the first game before losing the second game, 5-0.

It was the only blemish on an otherwise perfect season, as the Renegades won seven straight to build a lead over the other teams in the division.
They finished just a half-game behind the Dawgs, who went 7-0. The Renegades and Dawgs did not play during the regular season.
They opened the season with a doubleheader sweep (14-6, 14-0) over the N.Y. Blackhawks at the Highland Little League Field on Sept. 25. Then two days later, they swept the Pine Bush Rebels (10-0, 12-2) at Wappingers Falls Little League.
They swept the Cornwall Dragons (6-5, 10-2) on Oct. 4 before having two weeks off from league play and traveling to the Stars to finish the regular season.
