Roof renovations to start on Highland Church

Posted

Fred Riley has made it his mission to fix the crumbling roof at the First United Methodist Church of Highland. The church was built in 1869 and has long served as the centerpiece of the hamlet.

“We are asking for donations for the restoration of the roof and gutter system,” Riley said. “Presently the roof is in major disrepair and needs attention to prevent any further damage to the building.”

Riley has estimated the cost for the project at $7,500 and may reach $10,000 before all is fixed.

“This historical landmark of our town needs the community’s help,” he wrote in a flier.

To make a donation, Riley can be reached at 845-430-0274. Work is set to begin on September 17.
