Skoufis announces winter recovery funding for Senate District 39

Posted

Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) announced the restoration of funding for the 39th Senate District’s Extreme Winter Recovery funds that help local governments repair local highways and roads.

Senator Skoufis said, “I was proud to tirelessly work through the very last day of session to make sure that this money was brought back to our Senate district. Municipalities in the Hudson Valley are constantly under budget restraints, which is why, since my time in the Assembly, I have continually fought to bring back our fair share of funding. As a former Town Councilman, I understand the importance of the Extreme Winter Recovery funding for local budgets, and was committed from the beginning to make sure this funding was secured before the end of the legislative session. In a district where a large portion of my constituents commute to work, it’s imperative that our roadways are safe to travel, and municipalities are constantly supported by the State to carry out their important work.”

A breakdown of the finding:

Orange County:
- City of Newburgh- $53,007.04

- Town of Crawford- $29,451.64
- Town of Montgomery- $26,313.46
- Town of Newburgh- $55,568.58
- Town of New Windsor- $37,309.67
- Village of Maybrook- $6,717.68
- Village of Montgomery- $9,768.48
- Village of Walden- $14,146.29

Ulster County:
- Town of Marlborough- $22,912.12
- Town of Plattekill- $19,716.14

During his freshman term as a State Senator, Skoufis secured approximately $23.6 million in bridge repairs and replacements, advanced targeted Route 32 maintenance in New Windsor, and secured $1.8 million to fully repave Route 32 along downtown Highland Mills. Senator Skoufis plans to make additional funding announcements in the coming weeks.
