On Sunday, February 9, the Hudson River Maritime Museum is pleased to offer two public programs centered around water in Ulster County as part of the Smithsonian Water/Ways exhibit, on view at the museum until February 23

The first program will take place on Sunday, February 9 at 12 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the new Ashokan Reservoir Trail. Adam Bosch, NYS DEP Bureau of Water Supply Director of Public Affairs, will lead a walking tour along the trail and discuss the Ashokan Reservoir, its history, and role in providing drinking water for New York City. This program is free and open to the public, but participants must register in advance.

At 3 p.m. at the nearby Ashokan Center, the Hudson River Maritime Museum will offer a “Water/Ways Concert.” Featuring music by Jay Ungar and Molly Mason and Betty & the Baby Boomers, as well as a viewing of the documentary film “Deep Water,” about the construction of the Ashokan Reservoir, with commentary by filmmaker Tobe Carey, the concert will close out a day spent considering the role of water in our everyday lives.

Concert tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for kids (13 & under) and will include light refreshments and FREE admission to the “Water/Ways” exhibit at the museum. Wine, beer, and hard cider will also be offered via cash bar.

Interested participants are encouraged to visit the “Water/Ways” exhibit at the Hudson River Maritime Museum on Saturday, February 8, before continuing their weekend with Water/Ways that Sunday, February 9. Any concert ticketholders will be able to visit the museum for free (admission included with their concert ticket) at any time after purchase, including before the concert on Saturday or Sunday.

The Water/Ways exhibit at the Hudson River Maritime Museum is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until Sunday, February 23.

Water/Ways is part of the Smithsonian’s Think Water Initiative to raise awareness of water as a critical resource for life through exhibitions, educational resources and public programs. Inaugural funding for the New York State tour was provided by the Smithsonian Institution, Hadley Exhibits, Inc., the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, and the New York State Canal Corporation.

The exhibition is part of Museum on Main Street, a unique collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES), state humanities councils and museum associations across the nation, and local host institutions.
