Iron Dukes clinch post-season berth
Thomas Benfer scored 17 points, as the Marlboro Iron Dukes clinched a berth in the Section 9 Class A tournament with a 55-43 win over the Rondout Valley Ganders in a Mid Hudson Athletic League Division II boys’ basketball game on Feb. 12 at Marlboro High School.

Matthew Ciarimboli and Christopher DeNatale added 14 points each.

The Iron Dukes posted a second win, 57-45, over the Dukes on Wednesday at Rondout Valley High School.

Miles Brooks scored 14 points, grabbed five rebounds and five assists, while Ny’eem Douglas had 13 points, nine rebounds and flour blocks. DeNatale had 12 points, four rebounds and three steals.

The Iron Dukes finished the week with a win over the Highland Huskies on Friday, ending the Huskies’ bid for a section 9 Class B tournament berth.

Marlboro pair qualifies for nationals
Marlboro’s Juliana Juras and Victoria Maher finished first and second in the girls’ weight throw, meeting not only the state standard but qualifying for the 2024 Nike Indoor Nationals at Saturday’s New York State Qualifier at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York City.

Juras reached 48-00.25 and Maher was second with a 45-6.50.

Sean Robertson finished fourth in the boys’ pole vault, reaching the standard with a vault of 13 feet.
