The Highland Public Library is working in cooperation as part of the Ulster County Library Association to provide a summer’s worth of entertainment and learning for children, teens and adults!
In addition to reading challenges, children will have eight challenges in four subject areas to complete on BINGO cards. Each of these challenge areas is loaded with enough ideas that you are guaranteed to find something fun to do. You can visit the website at highlandlibrary.org/summer/ to Subscribe to the email list to receive login information for our special event programs. It will not be posted publicly. These programs are for Ulster County residents.

Summer reading
Tracking reading time with READsquared. Parents register and keep track of your children’s reading logs. Every 30 minutes a child reads will earn them one raffle entry into winning a grand prize for their age group. For adults, one book will earn them a raffle ticket.

During these difficult and uncertain times, I have been trying to spend the last few weeks on what I like to call “Pops of Positivity”. Since I cannot keep you posted on events that are going on, and many of us have been feeling disconnected without these events I think it important to focus on the good, even more than ever. Each week in my column, I’ve been trying to highlight any story from our wonderful community that highlights little moments, or Pops!, of positivity  when so much negative is surrounding us. If you have a “Pop of Positivity!” you would like to share during quarantine, please email me at mrskendraelliot@gmail.com or call 845-706-9582.
