Stewart Air show to feature vast military aircraft display area

The 2019 New York International Air Show, scheduled for August 24-25 at New York Stewart International Airport, will feature an array of military aircraft on static display.

Covering 50 acres on the south side of the airport, the display area will include an A-10 Warthog, C-130 Hercules, C-17 Globemaster III, Thunderbird F-16 Viper, F-15 Eagle and UH-72 Lakota helicopter.

The A-10 Warthog or Thunderbolt II is a single-seat, low, straight-wing aircraft. The design of the wing allows for short takeoffs and landings from primitive airfields. Because of this, the A-10 can operate nearly anywhere and provide ground troops with close air support.

The workhorse of the U.S. Air Force combat airlift fleet, the C-130 Hercules has been in service for more than half a century. Designed specifically to transport troops and equipment in the combat zone via airdrop or short runways, the Hercules operates throughout the U.S. Air Force serving with Air Mobility Command, Air Force Special Operations Command, Air Combat Command, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Pacific Air Forces, Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve Command, fulfilling a wide range of operational missions in both peace and war situations.

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will headline the event which will also include the Northeast debut of the U.S. Air Force F-35 Lightning II Demo Team and the Royal Air Force Red Arrows.
