Three council seats to be decided in Plattekill

This years Plattekill Town Board elections is unique. Usually, only two seats on the Town Board are up for re-election at any given election. However, this year, incumbent Dean DePew, who resigned and was re-established on the Plattekill Town Board this past June, will now face democratic canadate Gladys Figueroa.

DePew was forced to resign after only one year of his two year term as Town Council member due to stipulations in his state retirement. His continuation on the Plattekill Town Board is now up to the voters.

The other two seats on the Town Board, currently held by Lawrence Farrelly and Mike Ferrell, will be unopposed on the ballet.


Dean DePew
DePew is recently retired from the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision after a 32 year career. DePew started his service to the Town of Plattekill as part of the Highway Department in the early 1980’s.
He is currently a member of Modena Fire and Rescue and the Plattekill Veterans Committee. During his time on the Plattekill Town Board, Mr. DePew has encouraged new businesses to join the community, while being mindful of overgrowth.

His diligent attention to taxpayer money has allowed the Town Board to provide an increase in services to the people of Plattekill without raising taxes since 2013.


Gladys Figueroa
Figueroa is a retired NYPD officer and resident of Plattekill.

If elected, Figueroa will use her position on the Plattekill Town Board to benefit all residents, embrace diversity, and increase the quality of life for young people and seniors. As a member of the Plattekill Master Plan committee, Figueroa advocates for a future with real results, improvements and opportunities.

She is committed to developing a smart growth economic plan that would make Plattekill one of the gateways of Ulster County. Increases in tourism can be used to attract more businesses to Plattekill, while preserving the rural and quaint qualities of the town.

Lawrence Farrelly

Farrelly is a 20 year resident of the Town of Plattekill and is retired from Northrop Grumman. He is a veteran of the United States Army and currently serves on the Plattekill Veterans Committee.

A member of the Town Board since 2011, Farrelly is currently the Deputy Supervisor. The expansion of programs for the communities youths and seniors without raising taxes is sited by Mr. Farrelly as one of his major accomplishments. His common sense approach is one of his greatest resources while serving on the Town Board. Mr. Farrelly is currently running unopposed.


Michael Putnam
Putnam is a 19 year resident to the Town of Plattekill and devoted to his family and community. He is currently employed at CCI Riverview in Newburgh.

Putnam is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and is a proud member of the Plattekill Veterans Committee. In addition, Putnam serves with the Plattekill Fire Police and is a volunteer ambulance driver for the Plattekill Rescue Squad.
He is currently Vice Chairman of the Plattekill Zoning Board of Appeals and has a vast knowledge of zoning laws and the need for proper town planning.

Mr. Putnam is currently running unopposed.

Donna Hedrick
Hedrick and her family have lived in Plattekill for 35 years, serving her community as a secretary to the Town Highway Superintendent. Currently, Hedrick is the Deputy Town Clerk, working beside Donna Dawes.

She plans to use her experience in town government and knowledge of the Town Clerk’s duties to promote a smooth transition within the Town Clerk’s office. She is committed to making visits to the Clerk’s office a pleasant experience for all residents.

Hedrick is currently running unopposed.
