Two presentations set for next Plattekill meeting

A light agenda gave The Plattekill Town Board time to discuss upcoming presentations. At the May 15 board meeting, the Parks Expansion Committee’s abbreviated presentation will focus on the improvement and advancement of the park facilities of Plattekill. Due to the long-term nature of the project, the committee has the time to seek out the opinions of Plattekill residents. To gather information, committee members will be handing out a survey at upcoming Plattekill events. Plattekill residents interested in the future of the town parks are encouraged to attend the May 15 presentation.

Also at the May 15 board meeting, the engineering firm Barton and Loguidice will be on hand to take public comment on the MS4 (municipal separate storm sewer system) annual report. The report, available for public viewing at both the Plattekill Town Hall and on the town website, analyzes the town’s waste needs, it’s goals regarding waste management, and how Plattekill residents are involved. Individuals who would like to share their comments with the Town Board are encouraged to review the report, and attend the next Town Board meeting.

Master Plan Kick Off Meeting a Success
The April 11 kick off meeting of the Master Plan Committee resulted in the finalization of the committee members. In all, eight Plattekill residents volunteered. Cindy Hilbert, current chair of the Plattekill Town Planning Board, will serve as the Chairperson for the Master Plan Committee. Hilbert, an employee of the Town of Marlborough Assessors Office, will bring her experience working on the Marlborough master plan to the people of Plattekill.

The Master Plan Committee’s goal is to incorporate the input of the residents of Plattekill to develop a plan for the future of the town. On June 4, the committee will be hosting a workshop to increase community involvement. The June workshop will take place at the Plattekill Fire House, with future workshop dates to be announced. Committee members are hard at work developing a Facebook page and an electronic survey to gather information and keep the residents of Plattekill informed of the Master Plan progress. For more information about future committee meetings or workshops, please contact the Plattekill Town Hall.

Flowers are in Bloom at the Plattekill Town Hall
Highway Department clerk Linda Byrnes was acknowledged by Supervisor Croce for her dedication to maintaining the flower beds in front of the Plattekill Town Hall. Ms. Byrnes purchased, planted and continues to maintain the garden patch at Town Hall, adding beauty to the otherwise plain building. On your next visit to Town Hall, be sure to stop and smell the flowers.

The next meeting of the Plattekill Town Board will be held on May 15, 2019 at the Plattekill Town Hall. Meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
