VFW Post 6534 is closing its doors

Per Richard Call, Commander we have been advised that VFW Post 6534 of Highland has closed its doors as of April 1. It has been in existence since May 11, 1973.

100th Birthday Wish
A kindergarten student at HES has an uncle who is turning 100 years old on April 22! Uncle Emil, who served in the 27th Infantry Division during WWII, says he always wanted birthday cards from all over the world. There is now a statewide moment to make his birthday wish a reality!

Cards should be mailed by the end of April and can be sent to: Emil Valentine, P.O. Box 1001, Rock Hill, NY 12775


Easter in the Hamlet
The First United Methodist Church of Highland is hosting Easter in the Hamlet on Saturday, April 13 with Penelope Rabbit reading a story to the children at 11a.m.

Following the story will be an Easter Egg Hunt in the field, 10 eggs per child. Afterwards, the children can welcome spring by planting a flower and take a photograph with Penelope Rabbit back at the Church! Don’t forget your Easter Basket.

(Be sure to check inside the eggs for a special note from the Easter Bunny and see if you won a special prize).


Palm Sunday Brunch
The First United Methodist Church of Highland is hosting a Palm Sunday Brunch on April 14, at 11 a.m. Adults will cost $8 and children under 6 $5. The brunch will serve pancakes, egg casserole, French toast casserole, coffee, tea, and juice.
Join in for a nice community breakfast!

Spring Clean Up on the Trail
Volunteers needed for Spring Clean-up on the Rail trail. Bring a rake and your work gloves with you to the pavilion at 101 New Paltz Road in Highland on May 4 at 8 a.m.

Hudson Valley Rail Trail Association Board President, Peter Bellizzi, will be there to help get you started. Any questions, contact Peter at 845-691-8588, or pjbellizzi@gmail.com.

Highland Spring Fest is seeking artisan vendors to showcase their talent on May 18 from 11-8 p.m. in the town center. Please visit .highlandspringfest.com to fill out an application.

It’s Elementary: Story Time with Community Helpers
On Thursday, April 18 from 3-4pm, join the Highland Public Library for Story Time with Community Helpers. This session will be with a Registered Nurse! Join in as attendees hear a story from Registered Nurse, Matt Pernice from Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Matt will read a story, answer questions and will show us some instruments used by medical professionals.
