William Vespe 93, of Highland, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Born August 31, 1927 in Astoria, Queens, New York, he was the son of the late Vito and Rose (Demara) Vespe.
On January 17, 1954 he married Madeline Rose Novello at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Astoria, Queens, New York. They enjoyed over 65 years together before she passed on November 18, 2019.

He proudly served our country in the Army during World War II. Upon his return to the U.S. he was employed by Countess Mara Tie Factory in New York as a Vice President, until his retirement in 1990.
Bill presided over the family Sunday dinners which were the highlight of his week. He enjoyed yard work and he could often be seen gathering wood for fires.

Survivors include his children, Carla A. Vespe of Highland, Elaine M. Porter and her husband, Donald of Highland, William A. Vespe of Highland, Thomas W. Vespe and his wife, Maryann of Highland, John M. Vespe and his wife, Elizabeth of Milton, Ann G. Feo and her husband, Costanzo of Highland, and Jane M. Vespe of Highland; his sister, Marie DeBella of NJ; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; many nieces, nephew, cousins and in-laws.

Due to restrictions of Covid-19, there will be a memorial gathering limited to immediate family only.
Burial, with full military honors, will take place in the Spring of 2021 at the Ulster County Veterans Cemetery in New Paltz, New York at the convenience of the family.
