World’s oldest barber to take an honor flight

Anthony Mancinelli, a 108-year-old barber and WWII Veteran from New Windsor, will be flying to Washington D.C. with 82 of his fellow veterans on Saturday, April 13 on Hudson Valley Honor Flight’s Mission 22.

The April 13 flight will depart from New York Stewart International Airport in New Windsor taking veterans on an all-expense paid trip to visit our nation’s war memorials. Veterans will travel by a police-escorted bus convoy while in D.C. for the daylong trip and return to NY that evening.

Veterans from 13 different tri-state area counties are in store for the trip of a lifetime. Among them are veterans of WWII, Post WWII, Korean War, Post Korean War, Vietnam and Desert Storm.

“We are continually amazed by the real-life stories of the veterans who sign up for Honor Flight. Mr. Mancinelli’s story is one of many. We are so fortunate to have 14 veterans from WWII participating in this flight and with veterans from the Korean War, Vietnam and Desert Storm as well, this flight truly bridges many generations,” said Chairman Frank Kimler.

Hudson Valley Honor Flight (HVHF) is a local nonprofit based in Walden which honors Hudson Valley area veterans for all their sacrifices by bringing them to Washington, D.C. to visit their respective war memorials at no cost to them.

HVHF is currently seeking sponsorship for future missions, as there are many worthy and eligible veterans and HVHF wants to continue honoring them. To learn more, call (845) 391-0076 or visit: hvhonorflight.com.
