9W convenience store project resumes

Posted

Marlborough Supervisor Al Lanzetta said work has resumed on the combined gas station, convenience and Dunkin’ Donuts store on Route 9W, that is owned by developer Mickey Jamal, President and CEO of CPD Energy.

Lanzetta added that in conjunction with this project, “we started with the Route 9W sewer extension. That starts over by the light by the Middle School where there’s a manhole cover. Then they drill up north on the west side of 9W.” He said once the drilling is completed the line will be installed.

This phase will go up to Jamal’s store and a later second phase will continue north to the industrial park. He expects the first phase will be completed in about a month, if they do not hit rock, and the second phase may be tackled in the spring. The town received a total of $500,000 from the late NYS. Sen. William Larkin and the late NYS. Assemblyman Frank Skartados for this infrastructure work but additional funds may be needed to complete the project.

Lanzetta will soon be sending out a letter to all of the businesses along the route to see if they want to hook up to the sewer line. The costs to finish the project could drop depending on the number of people who want to tie into the project.
