The Gardiner Library will host a book reading by author Holly George-Warren on Sunday January 26 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. Enjoy listening to the author while she reads from her latest book Janis: Her Life and Music a biography of Janis Joplin and long-listed for the 2020 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence. NPR.org calls it, “The definitive portrait of one of pop culture’s most misunderstood martyrs… In dwelling so sympathetically on her tangle of talents, contradictions, and mythology, Janis brings one of rock’s most enduring legends down to earth while holding her justly up to the light.”

Holly will provide background on her research and writing of the book and will take questions from the audience. Inquiring Minds Bookstore will be selling signed books at the event.

Holly George-Warren is a two-time Grammy nominee and the award-winning author of sixteen books, including Janis: Her Life and Music, the New York Times bestseller The Road to Woodstock (with Michael Lang), A Man Called Destruction: The Life and Music of Alex Chilton and Public Cowboy No. 1: The Life and Times of Gene Autry. She has written for numerous publications, including The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and Entertainment Weekly. George-Warren serves on the nominating committee of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and teaches at the State University of New York at New Paltz.
