Fountain of Life Church reopens with English speaking services

Fountain of Life Church, or Iglesia Fuenta de Vida, located at 308 Fullerton Avenue in Newburgh, is holding a Grand Reopening Service to introduce its English speaking service on Sunday, September 13 at 9 a.m.

The church had planned to begin English speaking services back in March, however the pandemic pushed back the date.

“Traditionally it’s been a Spanish speaking church,” said Obed Almeyda, Associate Pastor of the English Service. “Senior Pastor Bishop Juan E. Reyes saw the need to be able to reach non-Spanish speaking people in the City.”

Almeyda relocated from Norriston, Pennsylvania back in March to serve the Newburgh community and lead the English speaking services.

Before the pandemic they had around 200 attendees, which they hope to get back to soon.

The Fountain of Life Church also held “street church” last week at Tyrone Crabb Memorial Park, where they had volunteers giving out clothing and other back to school supplies. They also took prayer requests.

“We want to try and do Street Church once a month,” said Almeyda. “The idea is for the Church to not meet in a building on a Sunday but to be in the streets, in a park, in the community, see the people where they are.”

“We want to be able to bless the community, it doesn’t matter what you believe. We want to make a difference, that’s what it’s all about for us,” continued Almeyda.

The church is a part of the Church of God, which is based out of Cleaveland, Tennessee. It has a Pentecostal Christian denomination.

Their four-fold mission states that they want to “win souls, make disciples, equip the saints for the work of the ministry and launch laborers into the harvest field with the power of the Holy Spirit.”

The English service will be an hour and a half long. It is followed by the Spanish service beginning at 12 p.m.

The special grand opening service will have a guest worship leader, Krista Deana from the Philadelphia area, and sister churches Kingdom Builders Ministries and Redemption1010 will also be joining.

They are actively taking measures to follow the CDC protocols with proper social distancing and cleaning. There will be masks available at the door as well as hand sanitizer.
