Chester woman charged with stealing NW police car

An early morning chase involving a New Windsor Police car ended in Plattekill with a suspect taken into custody.

Police alleged that Nicole Moghaddam, 29, of Chester, took the marked police vehicle through the Town of New Windsor, into the Town of Newburgh and on to the Town of Plattekill, where she was eventually stopped and taken into custody at the intersection of Forrest Road and Route 32.

The incident, which remains under investigation, started at 6 a.m. Tuesday when New Windsor Police responded to the EconoLodge on Route 32 for a report of disorderly adults in the hotel.

During the investigation, police said Moghaddam got into police vehicle 517 and took off.

Dispatch was able to locate the vehicle right away via its GPS and officers caught up to it, stopping the vehicle and making the arrest.

Moghaddem was charged with grand larceny and driving while ability impaired by drugs, as she had a previous DWAI drugs conviction, and driving while her license was revoked for a DWI, all as felonies.
