The March Town of Crawford board meeting consisted of a mix of business issues with the potential reappearance of local events.

Business
The Crawford police department’s reform plan public hearing was closed, and the plan will be submitted on time to Governor Cuomo. Additionally, the Town’s Public Health Emergency Plan, identifying essential workers, was also approved.

The public hearing regarding the community development grant was closed following discussion outlining a proposal to apply with the intention to use the funds to create a walking trail with exercise stations, as well as possible community garden plots, for senior citizens and residents.

The subdivision, Farmhood Fields, was approved to pay a parkland fee as the subdivision does not have dedicated land for a park or playground. Supervisor Carnes stated, “All subdivisions pay parkland fees to offset the costs of running the (Town of Crawford) parks.”

Related to the discussion of parks, the Board clarified all Town of Crawford parks open on or around April 1, but the opening is weather dependent for safe conditions due to the risk of frozen pipes in bathrooms.

Entertainment and Recreation
Sophie’s Garden Inn is preparing to open on Depot Street. The Inn will include a restaurant with bar open to the public and anticipates hosting some live acoustic music events.

Due to warm weather, Crawford’s Parks will be open for the season on April 1.

The Town of Crawford PBA is holding a drive-thru Easter event, Saturday, March 27, allowing children to see the Easter Bunny and receive a free goodie bag. The event is from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Pine Bush High School parking lot. A raffle will also be held with five winners receiving a prize. All attendees are asked to observe Covid safety protocols and stay in their vehicles.

The Pine Bush Little League will not be participating in a parade as part of their opening day events on April 10. All opening day activities will occur at the Crawford Town Park on Red Mills Road.

Girls on the Run will be holding their annual 5K event on June 4 with an anticipated 30 girls participating. Adult running buddies will be accompanying each girl and the Town of Crawford will provide support in the form of traffic control.

The next Board meeting is scheduled for April 15 at 7 p.m.
