Friends of the Library Ice Cream Social – Drop-in event

Posted

The Friends of Cornwall Library will be hosting the Annual Ice Cream Social and Book Sale from 1-3 p.m. July 27. This year, the Friends are proud to present Cornwall singer-songwriter, Jim Carberry, who will play a selection of acoustic rock and original songs. There are always amazing finds at the Friends book sales: fiction and non-fiction titles in hardcover and paperback, biographies, best sellers, mysteries, children’s books, movies and more. All will be on sale for incredibly discounted prices — come for the bargains, stay for some ice cream and entertainment. Jim Carberry’s musical career began in Northern New Jersey in the 1980s, playing in classic rock and alternative bands. Carberry played guitar, bass, mandolin, and harmonica in The Orr’s Mill Troubadours. In 1999, he was lead guitarist with the Happy Campers, playing venues in Orange and Rockland counties. In 2012, Carberry recorded a CD as a solo artist: “Lonesome Acts of Defiance,” available on Apple Music and Spotify. Continuing as a solo artist, Carberry developed an infectious Travis picking technique. He has been playing wine bars, coffee houses and dance halls in Orange County and northern New Jersey since 2013. Raised on classic rock, he incorporates elements of rock, folk, country, reggae, hip-hop, jazz and Celtic into his shows. Join us July 27 for a fun-filled afternoon. Mark your calendars now!
