Virtual Film Discussion: The Psychic Highway
The Gardiner Library will host a virtual film discussion of the documentary “Psychic Highway” on Thursday April 1 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The documentary “Psychic Highway” reveals how the Erie Canal changed the course of American history, intertwining the origins of the Erie Canal with the historical, religious, and social issues of the day.
Michael Keene, through the use of archival photographs, original music and narration, will premier “Psychic Highway” followed by a Q&A. Michael is a frequent guest speaker at New York libraries and has produced several award winning history programs.

Gardiner Library presents a Build Your Business Series
Gardiner Library presents a virtual Build Your Business Series featuring presentations and Q&A every Wednesday in April from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Part One of the series: Make your Public Speaking Impactful is presented by Jennifer Thayer on April 7. Learn how to use storytelling, mechanics and anxiety hacks to become a better public speaker. Jennifer works from the premise that all speaking is public speaking and discusses the use of storytelling as a presentation anchor. She’ll also cover basics like voice preparation, better slide creation and hacks for performance anxiety. To register for this event contact Nicole at nlane@rcls.org. Presentations on other business development subjects will continue on Wednesdays through April.
Over two decades, Jennifer Thayer has coached entrepreneurs, advised boards and started two companies. Jennifer is the former executive at Cablevision and former managing director of Goldenseeds, the fourth largest angel investor network in the U.S.

Gardiner Library hosts weekly Birding Walks
Gardiner Library presents Birding Walks with Minnewaska Park Educator Nick Martin on Fridays in April from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.
Pre-registration for this event is required by contacting Nicole at nlane@rcls.org. Attendees will meet Minnewaska Park Educator and enthusiastic birder, Nick Martin at Gardiner Library for an approximate one-mile walk on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail and Majestic Park. Participants are encouraged to wear waterproof boots or shoes, bring binoculars, a birding field guide or a smart device with a field guide installed. Interested participants are welcome to attend one or all Friday programs.
COVID protocols will be maintained and a limited number of participants will be allowed to register.
