Hike to Verkeerder Kill Falls at Sam’s Point

Posted

Join Dylan Medici, Student Conservation Association/AmeriCorps Stewardship Assistant, for a hike to Verkeerderkill Falls. Falling 187 feet over a dramatic, rocky ledge, Verkeerderkill Falls is the highest waterfall in the Shawangunk Mountains. We’ll walk through the dwarf pitch pines and enjoy views of the Hudson Valley below. While this five-and-a-half-mile hike does not have significant elevation gain, it does include some steep, rocky terrain and a stream crossing. Please bring a lunch, water, and appropriate clothing for the weather, including sturdy footwear, traction devices and warm clothing. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. Due to COVID protocols, the total number of participants for this program is limited to twelve individuals. All participants must wear face coverings or keep a minimum six-foot distance away from others who are not part of your immediate household. Meet at the Sam’s Point Visitor Center. Pre-registration is required by calling Sam's Point at 845-647-7989.
