Hudson Valley Hospice receives We Honor Veterans Level 5 Certification

Posted

Michael Kaminski, President and CEO of Hudson Valley Hospice, announced that Hudson Valley Hospice has achieved Level 5 of the We Honor Veterans Program. Level 5 is the highest level achievable in the program, a collaboration of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The We Honor Veterans program invites hospices, state hospice organizations, Hospice-Veteran Partnerships and VA facilities to join a pioneering program focused on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment of the Veteran’s service to America.

Kaminski noted that, “It is an honor and a privilege to care for our Veterans who served and sacrificed for our freedom. By recognizing their unique needs, both on program and in the community, in partnership with the NHPCO and our local and state partners, we continue to learn how to stay connected to our Veteran community and find new and creative ways, especially in these challenging times, to meet the needs of our Veterans and most importantly, ensure that they and their loved ones receive the best possible care and support during their time with us.”

Kaminski went on to say that he is incredibly proud of this accomplishment and the Hudson Valley Hospice team. The Level 5 requirements are considerably more rigorous than the previous four levels and to meet the requirements in the midst of a pandemic is truly remarkable and underscores the commitment and dedication of Hudson Valley Hospice staff to our Veterans, their loved ones and our community.
